Job summary

Henry Schein is seeking an experienced Senior API Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable API ecosystems. You will drive API governance, security, and performance through cross‑functional collaboration with product, engineering, and DevOps teams.

The role emphasizes hands‑on work with REST/GraphQL, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). Databricks integration and strong automation practices are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in API development focusing on RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Proficient in Python, Java, Node.js, or Go.
• Hands-on experience with API management platforms (Mulesoft, Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, or Azure API Management).
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven design patterns.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Advanced knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, and API key management.
• Familiarity with caching, load balancing, and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana).
• DevOps & CI/CD practices for streamlined deployments.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deploy APIs and microservices with high availability.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and DevOps to define API governance and integration patterns.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and encryption standards to protect assets.
• Optimize performance with caching, rate-limiting, and monitoring tooling.
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote API design best practices.
• Host and orchestrate microservices in AWS, GCP, or Azure using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Integrate APIs with Databricks, Spark, or Snowflake for analytics.
• Produce developer-focused docs and ensure reliable testing and uptime.
