Job summary

NewsWhip by Sprout Social is seeking a Senior Applied AI/ML Scientist to join its AI, Data and Intelligence Business Unit. You will drive end-to-end LLM-powered features and design agentic workflows that enrich content and surface insights for journalists, PR leaders, and global brands.

You will shape the technical direction for retrieval, embeddings, and structured outputs while partnering with product and UX to deliver impactful, production-grade AI solutions at scale.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience building and operating production software systems.
• 2+ years hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered features in real-world applications.
• Strong backend engineering skills (Python preferred).
• Experience with several of the following: LLM APIs, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, LLM evaluation, and LLM Ops.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver production agentic workflows—ambient and interactive.
• Own design of LLM-powered content enrichments feeding reporting and alerts.
• Lead technical direction for tool-augmented LLM systems and architecture decisions.
• Define structured prompting standards, output schemas, and reusable patterns.
