Job summary

Zendesk seeks a Senior AI Data Engineer to join the Analytics Prototyping (ZAP) team. You will design and ship fine-grained datasets powering Zendesk’s analytics for customers and internal teams.

You will develop ELT pipelines, optimize SQL models with dbt, and apply AI-aware approaches to boost productivity and data delivery. Strong SQL, dbt, Python, and cloud data platforms are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience building and maintaining data pipelines.
• Extensive SQL experience, data modeling and analysis.
• Hands-on production experience with dbt and data modeling methods.
• Python or similar language for data transformation and automation.
• Experience with cloud columnar databases (BigQuery/Redshift/Snowflake) and SQL.
• Proven performance testing, capacity planning and cost optimization in cloud environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain ELT pipelines for reliable business reporting.
• Build and optimize SQL-based data models using dbt and ETL tools.
• Support AI-enabled operating model and apply emerging technologies.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and improve data delivery and system efficiency.
• Collaborate with teammates to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Contribute to the team's technical vision and implement innovative data solutions.
