Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a Senior Accountant for a west of Ireland engineering business with a growing international footprint. You will lead monthly management accounts, oversee the general ledger, and ensure robust financial records across the Irish and international entities.

You will partner with the Group CFO and operational teams to strengthen financial processes, deliver timely reporting, manage working capital, and drive commercial decision-making on major projects.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant or finalist working towards ACA/ACCA.
• Experience providing month-end financial reporting.
• Experience with project accounting or job costing is advantageous.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and controls.
• Experience with statutory VAT/tax compliance is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly management accounts and financial reporting for Irish and international entities.
• Own the general ledger and ensure accurate transaction processing.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable and supplier reconciliations.
• Deliver bank, balance sheet and control account reconciliations.
• Support cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
• Develop and enhance project and job-cost accounting processes.
• Improve financial reporting systems and management information.
• Monitor revenue recognition and work in progress movements.
• Lead month-end and year-end close per timetable.
• Prepare VAT returns and statutory/tax compliance.
• Partner with stakeholders to improve cost control and decision-making.
• Strengthen financial controls and governance.
