Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking a Sea Freight Operations Executive in North Dublin. The role covers both imports and exports, managing shipments from booking to delivery, and ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely movement.

You will work with customers, suppliers, hauliers, shipping lines and internal teams, handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high service levels.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in sea freight operations, ideally covering imports and exports.
• Good knowledge of FCL and LCL shipments.
• Experience with shipping documentation, Bills of Lading and Incoterms.
• Strong MS Excel and Word skills.
• Experience using Cargowise is highly desirable.
• Knowledge or experience of customs clearance is an advantage.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities within strict deadlines.

Sea Freight Operations Executive

Location: North Dublin

Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm

Department: Air & Ocean Freight

We are currently seeking an experienced Sea Freight Operations Executive to join our busy Air & Ocean Freight team.

This is an exciting and varied opportunity for an organised, detail-focused professional with experience in sea freight imports and exports. You will play a key role in managing customer shipments from booking through to final delivery, ensuring high service levels, compliance, accuracy and efficient shipment movement.

The successful candidate will be confident dealing with customers, suppliers, hauliers, shipping lines and internal teams, while being able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Import Operations

• Manage incoming FCL and LCL sea freight consignments.
• Create and maintain shipments on the Cargowise system.
• Review pre-alert documentation and coordinate documents for customs clearance.
• Liaise with the customs brokerage team regarding import entries, duties and VAT.
• Provide customers with customs entry details and ensure payment of applicable charges prior to arrival.
• Check Bills of Lading, including original/express status, and review Incoterms.
• Arrange haulier collections and final deliveries.
• Coordinate invoicing and shipment costs.
• Resolve customer and accounts queries promptly by email and telephone.
• Maintain clear and timely communication with customers and internal stakeholders.

Export Operations

• Receive and process customer bookings.
• Check rates and costs to ensure booking accuracy.
• Arrange transportation and collections for sea freight shipments.
• Create export FCL and LCL shipments on Cargowise.
• Issue booking confirmations, including ETD and ETA details.
• Coordinate export customs entries with the internal brokerage team.
• Prepare and issue MBL/HBL documentation.
• Confirm shipment departure/SOB with shipping lines.
• Prepare and send pre-alert documentation to overseas partners and agents.
• Coordinate invoicing and shipment costs.
• Respond efficiently to customer and accounts queries.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience in sea freight operations, ideally covering both imports and exports.

• Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
• Experience using Cargowise is highly desirable.
