Job summary

PlayStation seeks a Software Development Engineer in Test for a 12-month contract in Dublin. The role emphasizes backend and data quality, with hands-on testing of databases and data platforms.

You will design test strategies across UI, API and data systems, build automation with Python and Selenium, and collaborate with engineers and product teams to raise quality early in the lifecycle. Hybrid onsite 1–2 days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in software testing, quality engineering or test automation.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with test automation across API, backend and/or UI systems.
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience testing and validating databases and data.
• Experience working with Snowflake, Databricks or comparable modern data platforms.
• Experience testing data pipelines, data transformations and/or ETL/ELT workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design test strategies across UI, API, backend and data systems.
• Develop SQL-based validation to ensure data accuracy.
• Test data pipelines and workflows on Snowflake/Databricks.
• Collaborate with engineers and product teams to plan quality goals.
• Build and maintain automation frameworks for end-to-end testing.
• Create reusable test utilities and libraries.
• Enhance automation frameworks with Python and Selenium.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and quality gates.
• Analyze results and drive defect resolution.
• Advocate for shift-left quality practices.
