Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test for a 12-month contract in Dublin with hybrid onsite presence. You will design and execute test strategies across UI, API, backend and data systems, focusing on database validation using SQL and data platforms like Snowflake and Databricks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in software testing, quality engineering or test automation.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with test automation across API, backend and/or UI systems.
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience testing and validating databases and data.
• Experience working with Snowflake, Databricks or comparable modern data platforms.
• Experience testing data pipelines, data transformations and/or ETL/ELT workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans and test cases across UI, API, backend and data systems.
• Develop and execute SQL-based testing and validation to ensure data accuracy, integrity and consistency across systems.
• Test and validate data pipelines, transformations and workflows across platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers and cross-functional teams to define test coverage and quality goals early in development.
• Build, maintain and scale robust automation frameworks for UI, API, backend and end-to-end testing.
• Develop reusable test utilities, APIs and libraries to improve efficiency and consistency in automation.
• Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks using Python and Selenium.
• Partner with infrastructure teams to design, implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines and quality gates.
• Analyze test results and data, identify root causes of defects and drive timely resolution.
• Continuously improve quality engineering practices by introducing new standards, tools and processes.
• Advocate for a shift-left testing approach, embedding quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
