Job summary

We are currently hiring for an SAP Public Cloud test Manger to join our growing team in Ireland.

The SAP Public Cloud Test Manager owns the end-to-end test strategy, planning, governance and execution across an SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud programme, spanning Finance & Procurement, SuccessFactors (EC, Payroll, Recruiting, Onboarding, ESM, Pensions) and adjacent modules.

The role ensures that all in-scope process areas are validated to the required quality standard across Fit-to-Standard, System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Regression, Performance and Cutover/Hypercare test cycles, in line with SAP Activate methodology and client governance requirements.

This is a senior, client-facing leadership role responsible for building and running the test governance model, managing a multi-workstream test team, ensuring defect and risk visibility to the Programme Board, and safeguarding go-live readiness across each deployment wave.

Key Responsibilities:

1. 1. Test Strategy & Governance
   • Define and own the overarching Test Strategy and Test Management Plan for the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud programme, aligned to SAP Activate phases (Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, Run).
   • Establish test governance structures, including entry/exit criteria for each stage gate, test phase sign-off protocols, and escalation routes into the Programme RAID log.
   • Define the test scope and approach across Fit-to-Standard validation, functional/configuration testing, integration testing (CI/BIM, FI-CA, SD), data migration/reconciliation testing, security/authorisation testing, performance testing and UAT.
   • Ensure alignment of the test approach with Signavio process documentation (L0-L3) and Cloud ALM test management tooling.
2. 2. Test Planning & Estimation
   • Develop detailed, wave-by-wave test plans (Level 2/3), including timelines, resource models, environment bookings and dependency mapping into the master programme plan.
   • Build and maintain the test case repository, traceability matrix (requirements-to-test-case-to-defect) and test coverage reports across all in-scope process areas.
   • Coordinate test data and environment strategy with the Basis/Technical Architecture team, ensuring environment availability and data readiness ahead of each cycle.
3. 3. Test Execution & Defect Management
   • Lead and coordinate execution of SIT, UAT, Regression and Performance test cycles across workstreams, ensuring adherence to plan, quality standards and entry/exit criteria.
   • Own the defect management lifecycle end-to-end --- triage, prioritisation, root-cause tracking, retest and closure --- chairing daily defect triage calls with functional and technical leads.
   • Drive resolution of cross-functional defects, escalating blockers and quality risks to the Programme Director and relevant Workstream Leads in a timely manner.
   • Own UAT sign-off coordination with business process owners and ensure formal client acceptance ahead of each go/no-go decision.
4. 4. Automation, Tools & Continuous Improvement
   • Champion test automation opportunities (e.g., SAP Cloud ALM Test Automation, Tricentis, to improve regression testing efficiency across waves.
   • Maintain and continuously improve test tooling, templates, dashboards and reporting standards, embedding lessons learned across successive waves.
5. 5. Reporting, Stakeholder & Team Management
   • Provide regular, accurate test status reporting (RAG, defect burn-down, coverage, readiness dashboards) into Programme Governance forums, Steering Committees and client stakeholders.
   • Build, lead and mentor a matrixed test team (Test Leads, functional testers, automation engineers), managing resourcing, performance and capability development.
   • Act as the primary point of contact for all testing matters with client Quality/Assurance functions, internal/external audit and third-party system integrators.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience in software/ERP testing and managing test teams on large-scale SAP programmes
• Experience specifically on SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud (as opposed to on-premise/private cloud) implementations
• Proven experience managing testing across at least one full SAP Activate lifecycle (Prepare through Deploy/Run)
• Exposure to multi-wave, multi-country SAP Public Cloud roll-outs
• Strong knowledge of SAP Cloud ALM, Signavio, Tricentis,
• SAP-certified in relevant modules (Finance, Procurement or HCM/SuccessFactors)
• Working knowledge of SAP Finance & Procurement and/or SuccessFactors (EC, Payroll, Recruiting, Onboarding, ESM, Pensions) process areas
• Experience with test automation frameworks for SAP Cloud solutions
• Demonstrable experience defining test strategy, RAID/defect management processes and stage-gate entry/exit criteria
• Public sector / local government delivery experience
• Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable presenting to Programme Boards and Steering Committees
• ISTQB or equivalent formal test management certification
• Excellent people leadership skills, with experience managing distributed/matrixed test teams
• Experience with BPMN and Signavio process modelling (L0-L3)
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to translate testing data into clear risk narratives for executive audiences
• Familiarity with UK data protection, security and audit requirements for public sector clients

Qualifications & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
• ISTQB Certified Tester (Foundation/Advanced Level, Test Manager) or equivalent formal test management qualification --- preferred.
• SAP Activate Project Management or relevant SAP Certified Application Associate certification --- desirable.
• Relevant SAP Cloud ALM or test automation tool certifications --- advantageous.
