Job summary

FundRock Management Company (Ireland) Limited, part of the Apex Group, is seeking a Risk Manager to join the Fund Risk team in Ireland. The role involves monitoring investment fund risks, developing risk analytics, and supporting governance through board reporting.

The successful candidate will liaise with investment managers, administrators, depositaries, and law firms, while contributing to risk documentation and onboarding processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in the UCITS and/or EU Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) frameworks.
• Finance or quantitative degree with certifications like FRM/PRM/CFA/CAIA in progress.
• Understanding of the AIFM and UCITS regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to provide strong organisation and governance, coordinating key deliverables, and ensuring timely execution.

Responsibilities

• Perform ongoing monitoring of investment risks of funds to ensure alignment with objectives and regulatory restrictions.
• Generate, review, and enhance risk analytics using in-house and third-party tools.
• Assist in implementing the internal Fund Risk Management framework for new product initiatives and launches.
• Assist the Fund Risk team in preparing board reports.
• Respond promptly to material risk issues by escalating to the appropriate authority.
• Generate risk reports for fund boards and management company to support governance obligations.
• Draft risk-related documentation (Risk Management Process, Risk Appetite Statements, Risk Profiles) for onboarding of new clients.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Risk and play a key role in all aspects of Fund Risk, including contributing to strategic initiatives and potentially leading or mentoring junior staff members.

The role involves regular engagement with senior management and external stakeholders, presenting a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the governance and performance of a dynamic Fund Management Company.

The position - key responsibilities

• Perform ongoing monitoring of investment risks of funds to ensure that each continues to be managed in line with investment objectives, policy and within its investment risk and relevant regulatory restrictions.


• Generate, review, and enhance risk analytics using in-house and third‑party risk management tools.


• Assist in the implementation of the internal Fund Risk Management framework as part of new product initiatives and fund launches.


• Assist the Fund Risk team in the preparation of board reports.


• Respond promptly to material risk issues that arise on funds by escalating to the appropriate authority within the management company.


• Generate both regular and exception‑based risk reporting for both fund boards and the management company that enables each to fulfil their governance obligations related to the risk management of investment funds under their management.


• As part of the Fund Risk team, contribute to the onboarding of new clients by drafting the risk related documentation (e.g., Risk Management Process, Risk Appetite Statements, Risk Profiles) and to any other fund due diligence and documentation that requires input from the Fund Risk Team.


• Liaise regularly with key external stakeholders - including: investment managers, administrators, depositaries, law firms, etc.

The individual

• A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in the UCITS and/or EU Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) frameworks.


• Relevant finance or quantitative degree, with certification or progress towards qualifications such as FRM, PRM, CFA, or CAIA.


• An understanding of the AIFM and UCITS regulatory frameworks


• Demonstrated ability to provide strong organisation and governance, coordinating key deliverables, managing timetables, and ensuring timely, quality execution of processes.


• Proven experience managing and developing people, including supervising teams, providing direction and support, and fostering a high‑performance, collaborative culture.


• Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and convey insights effectively to stakeholders, including portfolio managers, fund directors, and senior management.
