Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a retail management or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations and HACCP requirements.
• Proven experience leading, motivating and developing a team.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills in a busy retail environment.
• Strong commercial awareness including sales, margins and stock control.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support the team to deliver high standards of customer service and operations.
• Plan and manage staff rosters, ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
• Monitor performance, provide feedback and address issues promptly.
• Monitor daily sales, stock levels, waste and margins to improve performance.
• Maintain store presentation, cleanliness and shop floor organisation.
• Ensure food safety, HACCP and health & safety standards are met.
• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally.
• Identify opportunities to improve sales, service and efficiency.
• Work with Area Manager to achieve targets and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support the team to deliver consistently high standards of customer service and operational performance.
• Plan and manage staff rosters, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and effective allocation of resources.
• Monitor employee performance, provide regular feedback and address performance or conduct issues promptly and professionally.
• Monitor daily sales, stock levels, product availability, waste and margins, taking action where required to improve commercial performance.
• Maintain high standards of product presentation, cleanliness and shop floor organisation.
• Ensure all food safety, hygiene, HACCP and health & safety standards are consistently maintained.
• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, ensuring a positive customer experience at all times.
• Identify opportunities to improve sales, service standards, efficiency and overall shop performance.
• Work closely with the Area Manager and wider management team to achieve company targets and business objectives.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a retail management or supervisory role, ideally within food retail, butchery, deli, fresh food or a similar environment.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations and HACCP requirements.
• Proven experience leading, motivating and developing a team.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy retail environment.
• Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of sales, margins, stock control, waste and cost management.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and demonstrate initiative.
• Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and busy trading periods, as the shop operates 7 days a week.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Previous experience in a butcher shop will be an advantage but not essential.
