Job summary

Focus Ireland is seeking a Social Care Leader for the Under 18's Residential Service in Clonmel, County Tipperary. The role focuses on creating a safe, nurturing environment for young people aged 15-18 in short-term residential care, coordinating a care team and ensuring high standards of practice.

The successful candidate will hold CORU‑approved qualifications, have 2+ years of relevant residential care experience, and demonstrate strong written communication and safeguarding knowledge.

Qualifications

• CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification
• Applied for CORU registration (evidence of application) required
• Minimum 2 years full-time work experience in a children’s residential setting
• Understanding of impact of childhood adversity on adolescents
• Familiarity with HIQA National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres
• Ability to manage and support teenagers in crisis with challenging behaviours
• Strong written communication skills
• Knowledge of Child Protection (Desirable)
• Knowledge of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Work within the framework of Focus Ireland’s objectives and values
• Provide a safe, home-like environment for residents in the unit
• Lead the shift with Social Care Workers and ensure tasks are carried out professionally
• Advise the Deputy Social Care Manager or Social Care Manager of concerns
• Assist in administration and day-to-day operation of the service
• Co-operate with external monitoring and inspections and implement recommendations
• Record and maintain project and client records in line with statutory requirements and health and safety legislation
• Attend and participate in team, review and agency meetings
• Assist in implementing settlement policies and strategies of Focus Ireland
• Prepare and engage in supervision sessions with the Manager/ Deputy
• Undertake other duties as assigned in consultation with the Manager
• Observe Health, Safety and Welfare at Work regulations and report risks
• Agree to participate in a 7-day, 24-hour roster
