Job summary

TNO Care Limited is seeking a Residential Care Worker for Cois Dara House, Cois Dara, Chapelstown, Carlow. The role focuses on providing day-to-day care in a safe residential setting and supporting young people’s emotional, social and practical development.

You will undertake key-working duties, maintain records, participate in handovers and training, and collaborate with social workers, families and schools. Full-time hours (39 per week) and a salary of €36,605 per annum.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in social care or applied social studies, NFQ Level 7 or equivalent.
• Experience supporting children or young people.
• Understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed care.

• Provide day-to-day care and help maintain a safe, stable and supportive residential environment.
• Build respectful relationships with young people and promote their rights, dignity and wellbeing.
• Support individual care plans and young people's emotional, social, educational and practical development.
• Undertake key-working duties and liaise with social workers, families, schools and other professionals as appropriate.
• Plan and supervise suitable recreational, educational and community activities.
• Respond to challenging situations using trauma-informed approaches and approved de-escalation practices.
• Follow safeguarding, Children First, health and safety, and organisational procedures, and report concerns and incidents promptly.
• Maintain accurate and confidential care records, daily notes and incident reports.
• Participate in handovers, team meetings, supervision and relevant training.
• Support daily household routines and help young people develop practical life skills.

Applicants must hold a recognised qualification in social care or applied social studies, or a relevant qualification at a minimum of NFQ Level 7 or equivalent, suitable for work in a children's residential care setting. Applicants should have relevant experience supporting children or young people, an understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed care, strong communication and report-writing skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.

Employment: Full-time, 39 hours per week

Salary: €36,605 per annum
