Job summary

O'Connor Sutton Cronin is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee a road reinstatement scheme in Kilcoon, Co. Leitrim.

You will supervise the works on site, monitor contractor activities, review RAMS and progress, and ensure safety and quality standards throughout the project. The role requires a Level 8 Civil Engineering degree, 6+ years’ post-graduate experience on civil projects, and a track record under Public Works Contracts.

Qualifications

• Level 8 qualification or equivalent in Civil Engineering/Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years' post-graduate engineering experience.
• Experience as Resident Engineer, Site Engineer or similar on civil projects.
• Strong site-based experience in road, civil or infrastructure works.
• Experience with road construction/reinstatement and drainage is advantageous.
• 5+ years working under Public Works Contracts.
• Experience assisting with contract administration.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
• Current Safe Pass and Safety in Construction qualifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with contractor, Employer, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Monitor materials, workmanship and testing.
• Ensure Health & Safety requirements are adhered to.
• Prepare regular site and progress reports.
• Attend site and project meetings.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations.
• Support the project team to successful completion.

We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to join a civil engineering project team delivering a road reinstatement scheme in Kilcoon, Co. Leitrim.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day engineering oversight of the works, supervising the contractor and ensuring that the project is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality and specification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as Resident Engineer and provide day-to-day site supervision of the road reinstatement works.
• Monitor contractor activities and ensure works are undertaken in accordance with the contract, drawings and specifications.

Requirements:

• Level 8 qualification or equivalent in Civil Engineering/Engineering.

• Previous experience as a Resident Engineer, Site Engineer or similar on civil engineering projects.
• Strong site-based experience in road, civil or infrastructure works.
• Experience in road construction/reinstatement, drainage, earthworks or associated civil infrastructure would be highly advantageous.
• 5+ years working under Public Works Contracts.
• Experience assisting with contract administration.
• Good knowledge and awareness of Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
• Current Safe Pass and relevant Safety in Construction qualifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage site issues, assess information, report findings and make practical recommendations.
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants and the wider project team.
• Chartered Engineer status or progress towards Chartered status would be advantageous.
