Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience leading technical research teams at or adjacent to the technology industry.
• Strong expertise in theoretical and applied AI/ML, large‑scale modelling, computer science, or mathematical sciences.
• Significant research leadership experience with publications, patents, or a PhD (preferred).
• Experience coaching individuals (coaching certification is a plus but not required).
• Self‑aware with high emotional IQ, capable of creating a safe space for vulnerability.
• Passionate about helping people advance in the workplace and build fulfilling careers.
• Comfortable working in a constantly changing startup environment.
• Commitment to devote a minimum of 12+ hours per month to coaching, and at least 24 months of engagement.

• Communicate with members via email or chat in the Mento App between sessions.

• Act with kindness, respect, and empathy as an ambassador of the Mento community.
• Complete the ICF‑certified coach training program before engaging with members.

The ideal candidate has a track record of designing, executing, and communicating high‑impact research outcomes and can navigate complex, rapidly evolving problem spaces. They should have hands‑on experience developing and implementing cutting‑edge AI/ML systems, large‑scale models, or mathematics‑focused work, and have led collaborative, cross‑functional research and engineering teams. The role blends deep research expertise with coaching, and is ideal for leaders who value learning, growth, and community.

• Contract position paid per hour, with bonuses that incentivise engagement and community growth.
• Requires 3–5 hours of coaching per week, independent of other commitments.
• Full‑remote role; candidates must be based in North America or Europe.
