Job summary

Zyte is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to own the design and delivery of core backend and MLOps platforms. You will architect control and context planes, refine multi-language client libraries (Java and Python), and ensure reliable deployments across diverse environments.

Work on Kubernetes, Kafka, and API contracts, while mentoring teams and shaping platform standards. This remote-first role demands strong leadership, rigorous reliability thinking, and a passion for building scalable

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building scalable distributed backend systems.
• Expertise in Java and Python with production-grade experience in large codebases.
• Deep experience with gRPC/Protobuf and schema evolution.

Responsibilities

• Architect the control and context planes for scalable platforms.
• Own multi-language client libraries and deployment pipelines across squads.
• Define inter-service contracts and API gateways with versioning rules.
• Operate and improve Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines at scale.
• Lead architecture discussions (RFDs) and guide durable workflow strategies.
• Establish SLOs, error budgets, and automated canary deployments.
• Share production ownership and drive platform improvements through incidents and post-mortems.
• Mentor engineers and promote distributed-systems best practices.
