Job summary

Rakuten Kobo Ireland is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our Web team. You will deliver features across the stack, from front-end to back-end and CI/CD, while owning code quality and observability. Remote role based in Dublin, with a strong focus on collaboration and delivering value to users.

The role emphasizes end-to-end delivery, design, testing, and monitoring, with opportunities to mentor peers and influence architecture decisions in a fast-paced startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in C#, ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, RESTful services and .NET 8 for microservices.
• Strong understanding of SOLID, IoC and TDD practices; experience with CI/CD and modern testing strategies.
• Experience with service bus technologies (NServiceBus, RabbitMQ) and observability tooling.
• Proficient in React and modern JavaScript/CSS; version control with Git; able to design and implement scalable solutions.
• Comfortable with code reviews, mentoring juniors, and communicating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build quality software using the Microsoft stack (MVC Web Apps, Web API, .NET 8 microservices).
• Propose designs and PoCs to Architecture team and drive implementation to Production.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Communicate clearly with teammates and stakeholders; collaborate across teams.
• Mentor junior team members and conduct code reviews; support CI/CD and testing strategies.
