Job summary

Jobgether in Ireland is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer, Design System to shape a shared UI foundation across products. You will own design tokens, component libraries, documentation, and developer tooling, with a focus on AI-friendly experiences for consistent interfaces.

You'll work hands-on with React and TypeScript, define component APIs, ensure WCAG 2.2 AA compliance, and collaborate across design, product, accessibility, and engineering teams to drive adoption of the design system

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with frontend platforms or shared UI systems.
• Ownership of a design system or component library used across multiple products.
• Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with strong React experience.
• Experience designing component APIs, library versioning, and developer experience.
• Interest in AI-powered development tools and agent-ready component consumption.
• Strong knowledge of responsive design, web performance, and browser compatibility.
• Experience validating accessible interfaces to WCAG 2.2 AA and EN 301 549.
• Ability to validate accessibility using keyboard navigation and screen readers.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across engineering, product, design, and accessibility teams.
• Willingness to work remotely within Europe.

Responsibilities

• Build, scale, and evolve the design system, including component library, tokens, and docs.
• Develop AI-assisted development capabilities for the system.
• Design robust component APIs to minimise misuse for humans and AI.
• Write high-quality React/TypeScript frontend code with strong standards.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers from concept to production.
• Build accessible components aligned with WCAG 2.2 AA and best practices.
• Own the developer experience: Storybook, docs, guidelines, versioning.
• Implement theming, multi-brand localization, and RTL support for a global base.
• Monitor adoption and gather feedback to guide continuous improvement.
• Help shape the technical roadmap and drive design-system adoption across teams.
