Job summary

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) seeks a National Hunt Handicapper for Raceday Operations. The role involves assessing and rating horse performance in Ireland and overseas NH entries, with hybrid remote work and occasional race-day attendance.

You will support the Senior Handicapper with data analysis and project work, and you will engage with owners, trainers and other stakeholders while meeting strict deadlines.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of horse racing and handicapping.
• Relevant experience in handicapping methodologies and analysis of racehorse performance.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with clear communication.
• Experience in data analysis or analytical environments.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.
• Full Clean Drivers Licence and access to own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Providing a numeric assessment of the ability of horses racing in Ireland under NH Rules and Irish-trained horses abroad.
• Establishing the merit of any given horse’s performance.
• Assessing abilities of horses from other jurisdictions seeking to compete in Ireland.
• Issuing a performance rating for each horse and an overall master figure where applicable.
• Responding to queries from owners and trainers and explaining handicapping decisions.
• Assisting the Senior Handicapper with data analysis and project work.
• Attending HRI Programming Committees and representing IHRB when required.
