Job summary

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) seeks an Independent Non-Executive Director with significant expertise in corporate governance and regulatory oversight.

This role involves supporting the Board in overseeing strategy, risk management and financial governance, with duties across board meetings and committees.

Appointment takes effect on 1 January 2027; closing date for applications is 17 August 2026, 12 noon.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in corporate governance and regulatory oversight.
• Knowledge of governance codes for state bodies.
• Ability to contribute to strategy and oversight.
• Understanding of risk management and internal controls.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee strategy and organisational performance.
• Ensure governance, risk management and internal control.
• Provide independent challenge and scrutiny of executive management.
• Promote regulatory integrity and accountability.
• Serve on board committees if invited.
• Attend meetings six to eight times per year.
• Maintain understanding of the organisation and regulatory environment.
