Job summary

Toptal is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to own and maintain the data transformation layer. You will govern data quality, model data relationships, and document data dictionaries for AI agents and humans.

You will collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Business Analysts to ensure trustworthy data supports analytics and business decisions. This remote role requires fluency with SQL and AI tooling, including agentic coding tools, and a strong background in cloud data warehouses like

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 4+ years shipping production data models in analytics/engineering roles.
• Expert-level SQL and working knowledge of Python.
• Fluency with LLMs and agentic coding tools in daily practice.
• Experience with cloud data warehousing (BigQuery or Snowflake).
• Understanding of modern transformation frameworks (dbt, Dataform or similar).
• Git fluency and experience with code reviews in production environments.
• Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
• Ability to translate business logic into SQL and drive data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, review and ship SQL models transforming raw data into usable data products.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to add and publish new data sources.
• Monitor data warehouse quality, accuracy, and usability.
• Turn business asks into modeled data and define business rules.
• Improve data quality, lineage, and retention across sources.
• Own the data dictionary and documentation for AI agents and humans.
• Diagnose and resolve data incidents and review teammates’ code.
• Work with Analysts, Data Scientists and stakeholders to enable data-driven decisions.
• Enhance team tooling, runbooks and playbooks for warehouse operations.
