Job summary

Mercor is seeking a PDF Annotation & Transcription Expert (Bengali) for remote contract work. You will source Bengali PDFs with multimodal elements, annotate regions, bind to reading order, and transcribe text exactly as it appears, including handwriting.

You will also record metadata, connect regions to figures/tables, and participate in end-to-end peer reviews with another Bengali expert to ensure high quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Native Bengali speaker with full command of the script and conjunct forms.
• Experience with document annotation, transcription, localization, or QA.
• Exact character-level accuracy; a single wrong diacritic is a defect.
• Systematic application of a taxonomy across pages.
• Comfort with unfamiliar layouts such as multi-column layouts and handwritten forms.

Responsibilities

• Source Bengali PDFs that are publicly accessible and contain multimodal elements; log the source.
• Annotate structure: bound regions with type and reading-order index.
• Record relationships: link regions to their parent figure or table.
• Transcribe Bengali text exactly as written, including handwriting.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, dimensions, flags for tables or handwriting.
• Review a colleague's work in a peer-review process.
