Job summary

UPMC Ireland is seeking a Relief Staff Nurse for the Pre-Assessment Clinic at the UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care within the Pre-Assessment setting, always operating within the An Bord Altranais guidelines and hospital policies.

The role involves collaborating with Consultants, the multidisciplinary team, and patient services to ensure safe pre-operative preparation.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication abilities.
• Be computer literate and able to use standard hospital systems.
• Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise and manage multiple issues.

Responsibilities

• Assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate care plans in Pre-Assessment Clinic.
• Carry out nursing care unsupervised as required.
• Assist Consultants with procedures in line with hospital policies.
• Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team including Phlebotomy and wound clinic.
• Screen patients awaiting elective surgery and coordinate pre-assessment activities.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity and consent in all procedures.
• Ensure equipment and stock are maintained and managed efficiently.
