Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to lead the response to critical customer-impacting incidents on the AWS Incident Response (AIR) team. You will triage impact, identify root causes, coordinate mitigation with service teams, and drive real-time resolution.

Your work informs automation and tooling to shorten future events and reduce customer impact. The role blends systems development with on-call incident leadership, offering exposure to AWS

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
  • Experience designing or architecting scalable, reliable systems.
  • Hands-on experience in networking, storage systems, and operating systems.
  • Proficient in at least one modern language: C++, C#, Java, Python, Go, PowerShell or Ruby.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the resolution of large-scale customer-impacting incidents as part of on-call rotation, leading incident calls and coordinating resolver teams.
  • Design, build, and enhance incident detection, triage, and mitigation automation tools.
  • Author COEs and deep-dive docs to identify improvement opportunities and drive action items.
  • Identify recurring platform issues and own projects to eliminate operational problems.
  • Collaborate globally to expand incident response capabilities across regions and services.
