Job summary

Groundforce Mountmellick depot is seeking a Depot Operative to prepare equipment for hire and support the depot team in delivering safe, efficient service. You will inspect and service hydraulic hire gear, drive forklifts to move equipment, and maintain accurate records in line with company procedures.

Working under the Depot Foreman, you will liaise with the line manager to meet customer requirements, perform routine maintenance, and assist with breakdowns on site when safe to do so.

Qualifications

• Ability to complete records and paperwork accurately.
• Capability to use scanners, PDAs, tablets and computers.
• Hydraulic systems knowledge and fault finding.
• A valid full clean driving licence.
• Knowledge of shoring/hire industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment for hire under depot foreman guidance.
• Liaise to understand customer requirements and maintain high service levels.
• Inspect, service and repair hydraulic hire equipment and depot assets per procedures.
• Attend breakdowns at customer sites for inspection, servicing and repair where safe.
• Inspect, service and repair specified hire equipment and depot assets as needed.
• Operate pneumatic/electrical hand tools (training provided).
• Keep accurate service/inspection records at all times.
• Identify and record damage of out-of-service equipment.
• Drive forklifts to load/unload, move, prepare and store equipment (training provided).
• Use pressure washer to clean equipment.
• Maintain stock levels and equipment quality per standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean working environment and report issues.
• Occasionally drive the depot van.
• Flexibility to perform other duties as needed.

Location: Mountmellick, County Laois, Republic of Ireland, N/A

Provide full support to your line manager delivering excellent service, ensuring all depot transactions are completed safely, timely, efficiently, accurately and in line with company policies/procedures/processes and customer requirements to meet the overall objectives of the business. Furthermore inspect, service and maintain Groundforce equipment and depot assets to specified quality standards, as set down by the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Working in the Depot under instructions from the Depot Foreman/Leadinghand to make equipment ready for hire
• Liaise with your line manager, to agree and understand our customers’ requirements and ensure that the highest level of service is maintained
• Inspect, service and repair hydraulic hire equipment and depot assets in line with level of competency, to company procedures ensuring company policies and processes are followed
• Attend breakdown’s of our equipment on customer sites to undertake the inspection, servicing and repair of our equipment where safe to do so and in line with level of competency, to company procedures ensuring company policies and processes are followed
• Where deemed necessary, inspect, service and repair specified hire equipment and depot assets in line with level of competency, to company procedures ensuring company policies and processes are followed
• Use of pneumatic/electrical hand tools (full in-house training will be provided)
• Keep up to date and accurate service/inspection records at all times
• Identify and record damage of out of service equipment
• Drive counter-balance or multi-directional forklift trucks to load/unload vehicles, move, prepare and store equipment (full in-house training will be provided)
• Use pressure washer to clean equipment
• Ensure stock levels are accurately maintained and quality of equipment is kept in line with company quality standards
• Have a positive attitude towards Health, Safety and the Environment reporting any issues to your supervisor
• Maintain your working environment to a high standard keeping clean and tidy
• Occasionally drive the depot van
• When considered necessary or appropriate by management you may be required to carry out any duties considered within your skill and competence to assist the smooth running of the business

What we’re looking for

• Ability to complete records, paperwork accurately is essential
• Capability to use scanners, PDA’s, tablets and computers
• Hydraulic systems knowledge and ability to fault find is essential
• A reasonable level of fitness is required
• To be flexible, trustworthy and reliable and have excellent time keeping skills is essential
• Valid full clean driving licence
• Knowledge of shoring commercial operations
• Working knowledge of construction/housing/civil engineering industry advantageous
• Knowledge of shoring/hire industry
• Mechanical experience would be advantageous but not essential
