An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced R&D Tax professional to join a growing and ambitious Tax team in a senior position.
The successful candidate will work with a diverse portfolio of innovative businesses, ranging from growing Irish companies and start-ups through to large multinational organisations, providing specialist advice across R&D tax credits and wider innovation incentives.
This is a senior client-facing role with responsibility for leading complex engagements, managing client relationships, developing the R&D Tax offering and supporting the growth and development of the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a portfolio of R&D Tax clients across a range of sectors, taking responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of R&D tax credit claims.
- Work closely with clients' technical, engineering, finance and R&D teams to identify qualifying activities and expenditure.
- Assess and review R&D projects and associated costs to determine eligibility under the relevant R&D tax legislation and Revenue guidance.
- Lead the preparation and review of high-quality technical narratives, financial analyses and supporting documentation for R&D tax credit claims.
- Review R&D expenditure including payroll, contractors, consumables, software, plant and machinery and other relevant costs.
- Provide technical advice to clients on R&D tax credits and, where relevant, wider innovation incentives, grants and related tax opportunities.
- Act as a senior point of contact for clients, developing strong and long-term relationships and providing commercially focused advice.
- Assist clients with Revenue queries, reviews, audits and other technical matters relating to R&D claims.
- Manage multiple engagements simultaneously, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, within agreed budgets and to relevant deadlines.
- Lead, coach and develop junior members of the R&D Tax team, providing technical guidance, reviewing work and supporting their professional development.
- Work closely with colleagues across Tax, Advisory, Engineering, Technology and other specialist areas to deliver an integrated service to clients.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, methodologies and technology used in the preparation and delivery of R&D claims.
- Contribute to business development through networking, proposals, pitches, client presentations and identifying opportunities within existing and prospective client relationships.
- Support the continued development and growth of the R&D Tax and Innovation offering, including contributing to technical and market-facing content where appropriate.
- Maintain a strong understanding of changes to R&D tax legislation, Revenue guidance and wider innovation incentive schemes.
About You
- CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification is desirable.
- Significant experience in R&D Tax, R&D incentives or a closely related tax advisory environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of Irish R&D tax legislation and Revenue practice.
- Proven experience managing R&D tax credit claims from initial client discussions through to completion and submission.
- Strong understanding of the financial and technical aspects of R&D claims.
- Experience working with clients across technology, engineering, software, manufacturing, life sciences or other innovation-led sectors would be advantageous.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong project and client management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing junior team members.
- Commercially minded, with an interest in business development and growing client relationships.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role would suit an experienced R&D Tax Manager or Senior Manager, or a strong Corporate Tax professional with substantial R&D Tax experience, who is looking for increased responsibility, client exposure, leadership and commercial opportunities.
