Job summary

KILKENNY LIMESTONE QUARRIES LIMITED in Ireland is seeking a quarry operative to cut stone with machinery (saws/wire saws) and to store, load and move materials on a forklift or gantry. Normal hours are Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am to 3.30pm, with an hourly rate of €17.02 and a 39-hour week.

The role includes processing stone to finished products, packing, and operating heavy equipment such as loaders, drills and cranes, with routine maintenance and safety tasks.

Responsibilities

• Cutting stone with machinery (saws/wire saws) in either quarry / factory or both.
• Store, load, unload and move materials around the premises on a fork truck or gantry, discarding of waste into the skips.
• Manual Handling unaided (lifting stone / consumables into position or skips).
• Process stone to a finished product (unloading and reloading pallets/crates).
• Select and pack finished product from a cutting table or production line onto a pallet or into a crate.
• Operate Heavy Machinery such as loader/dumper/excavator/drill rig within the quarry or factory premises.
• Operate cranes/gantry with chains / slings / suction pads or slab-grabber.
• Grading slabs for quality; cleaning / wash-down the workplace regularly.
