Job summary

ODS Engineering seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support project management after tender with commercial and cost management duties. You will handle budgets, payment claims, valuations, variations and final accounts while assisting with material take-offs and supplier quotes.

You will collaborate with project managers, the commercial team and design groups to ensure accurate cost data and timely cost reporting across multiple projects within our Ireland operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction or engineering.
• Knowledge of structural steel, cladding or modular buildings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Submit payment claims, valuations and final accounts for each project.
• Assist cost control and manage variations with the commercial team.
• Build relationships with clients, main contractors, engineers and QS professionals.
• Obtain quotes from suppliers and sub-contractors.
• Oversee project budgets and keep financials current throughout the lifecycle.
• Monitor spend and report alignment with budgets for each project.
• Work with design teams to cost and notify client of extras/variations.
• Collaborate with Commercial Manager, Estimating Manager and sector managers.

Job Summary:

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for actively supporting the ongoing project management after tender stage in the form of commercial and cost management controls, budgets, payment claims, valuations, variations, final accounts and following up payments. Also assisting the Estimating Manager with material take offs, obtaining quotes from suppliers and sub- contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Submit payment claims, valuations, and final account for each project.
• Assist project managers and commercial team with cost control and managing variations.
• Build relationships with Clients, Main Contractors, Engineer's, Architects & Quantity Surveyors.
• Obtain quotes and build relationships with suppliers, sub-contractors.
• Oversee cost control by preparing projects budgets and keeping budgets current and accurate throughout the life cycle of each project.
• Monitor and report on financial expenditure, ensuring alignment with financial budgets for each project.
• Work closely with design teams and project managers to ensure all extras / variations are costed and notified to the client.
• Assist project managers and commercial team with cost control and managing variations.
• Work closely with the Commercial Manager, Estimating Manager and the Sector Project Managers.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years, preferably within the construction or engineering sectors. Knowledge of structural steel, cladding, modular buildings would be an advantage.

Skills:

• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability of review, understand, analyse, and extract quantities from Engineer's and Architect's drawings is absolutely essential.
• Proficiency in cost control and cost planning.
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities and ability to manage multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines.
• Willing to learn in a growing fast paced environment.
