Berkley Group is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the Quality Assurance function across the site, driving excellence in food safety, quality, and technical standards. You will oversee the QA team and ensure compliance with Irish and EU regulations as well as customer expectations.

Responsibilities include leading audits, maintaining management systems, and collaborating with Production, Sales and Innovation to ensure products meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have a qualification in food science, microbiology, quality management or related discipline.
  • Significant senior quality/technical experience in food manufacturing, preferably seafood.
  • Proven track record leading and developing QA/technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, food legislation and regulatory compliance.

  • Promote and support a strong food safety and quality culture across the site.
  • Maintain, improve and develop the site's food safety, quality and technical management systems.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Irish and EU food legislation and customer requirements.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of technical and quality standards across the site.
  • Manage the internal audit programme and ensure CAPAs are completed on time.
  • Lead QA during customer, certification, regulatory audits and visits.
  • Collaborate with Production, Sales and Innovation to meet safety, quality and customer requirements.
  • Support supplier approval and supplier compliance requirements.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead their Quality Assurance function and drive excellence in food safety, quality, and technical standards across the site.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, organise and develop the site Quality Assurance team, ensuring it is appropriately resourced, trained and supported to achieve site and departmental objectives.
  • Promote and actively support a strong and positive food safety and quality culture across the site.
  • Maintain, improve and develop the site's food safety, quality and technical management systems.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable Irish and European Union food legislation, customer requirements and recognised industry standards.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of technical and quality standards across the site.
  • Manage the site internal audit programme and ensure that corrective and preventive actions are completed effectively and within agreed timescales.
  • Lead the quality and technical function during customer audits, certification audits, regulatory inspections and technical visits.
  • Work closely with Production, Sales and Innovation teams to ensure that new and existing products meet food safety, quality, legal and customer requirements.
  • Support the management and approval of suppliers, raw materials and associated supplier compliance requirements.
Experience Required
  • A qualification in food science, microbiology, quality management or another relevant scientific or food-related discipline or relevant industry experience.
  • Significant experience in a senior quality or technical role within food manufacturing, preferably within the seafood sector.
  • Proven experience leading and developing a Quality Assurance or technical team.
  • Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, food safety management systems and quality assurance principles.
  • Experience working within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, food legislation, risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
  • HACCP certification, with demonstrated experience developing, reviewing and maintaining HACCP systems.
  • Knowledge of IFS Food and organic certification standards.
