Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment partners with a well-established food manufacturing business in Cork to appoint a Technical Manager who will lead the site Quality Assurance function and drive continuous improvement across safety, quality and technical standards.

You will build and direct the QA team, maintain management systems, ensure compliance with Irish and EU legislation, and support production, sales and innovation to bring safe, high‑quality products to market.

Qualifications

  • A qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Management or another relevant scientific or food-related discipline, or relevant industry experience.
  • Significant experience in a senior Quality or Technical role within food manufacturing, ideally within the seafood sector.
  • Proven experience leading and developing a Quality Assurance or Technical team.
  • Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, food safety management systems and quality assurance principles.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, food legislation, risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
  • HACCP certification with experience developing, reviewing and maintaining HACCP systems.
  • Knowledge of IFS Food and organic certification standards.
  • Experience leading customer, regulatory and certification audits.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.]

Responsibilities

  • Lead, organise and develop the Quality Assurance team, ensuring the department is appropriately resourced, trained and supported.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the site's food safety, quality and technical management systems.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Irish and EU food legislation, customer requirements and recognised industry standards.
  • Lead the technical and quality function during customer audits, certification audits, regulatory inspections and technical visits.
  • Manage the internal audit programme and ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed effectively and within agreed timelines.
  • Work closely with Production, Sales and Innovation teams to ensure new and existing products meet food safety, quality, legal and customer requirements.
  • Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints and quality incidents, ensuring effective root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to site management and operational teams.

About Your New Job
