Job summary

As the Technical Manager at a well-established West Cork food manufacturing facility, you will lead the site Quality Assurance function and drive continuous improvement in food safety, quality and technical standards. You will oversee the QA team and ensure resources, training and support are in place.

You will ensure compliance with Irish and EU legislation, customer requirements and industry standards, and you will lead audits, inspections and visits while collaborating with Production, Sales

Qualifications

• A qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Management or another relevant scientific or food-related discipline, or relevant industry experience.
• Significant experience in a senior Quality or Technical role within food manufacturing, ideally within the seafood sector.
• Proven experience leading and developing a Quality Assurance or Technical team.
• Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, food safety management systems and quality assurance principles.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, food legislation, risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
• HACCP certification with experience developing, reviewing and maintaining HACCP systems.
• Knowledge of IFS Food and organic certification standards.
• Experience leading customer, regulatory and certification audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead, organise and develop the Quality Assurance team, ensuring the department is appropriately resourced, trained and supported.
• Maintain and continuously improve the site's food safety, quality and technical management systems.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with Irish and EU food legislation, customer requirements and recognised industry standards.
• Lead the technical and quality function during customer audits, certification audits, regulatory inspections and technical visits.
• Manage the internal audit programme and ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed effectively and within agreed timelines.
• Work closely with Production, Sales and Innovation teams to ensure new and existing products meet food safety, quality, legal and customer requirements.
• Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints and quality incidents, ensuring effective root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to site management and operational teams.
