Job summary

3D Personnel seeks an experienced Quality Engineer to join a leading main contractor delivering major civil engineering and infrastructure projects in Ireland. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining the QMS, ensuring all activities meet contractual, client, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong civil engineering background with experience across highways, earthworks, drainage, utilities, reinforced concrete, and structures.

Qualifications

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a Quality Engineer role within a main contractor environment.
  • Proven experience on civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering construction methods.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards.
  • Experience preparing and managing ITPs, NCRs, and quality documentation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and document management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the Project Quality Plan and associated quality procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Review client specifications, drawings, ITPs, and quality documentation.
  • Prepare, review, and manage ITPs, check sheets, quality records, and handover documentation.
  • Carry out inspections and audits of site activities to verify compliance with project specifications.
  • Coordinate and witness inspections with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and third-party inspectors.
  • Raise, monitor, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Monitor quality performance, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure materials used on site meet specification requirements and that all relevant certification is obtained and maintained.
  • Support site teams with quality-related advice and technical guidance.
  • Assist in preparing quality reports, KPIs, and monthly project quality summaries.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Ensure all quality documentation is maintained in accordance with project and client requirements.
  • Support project completion by ensuring quality records are complete for handover.
  • Promote a culture of 'right first time' and continuous improvement across the project team.
  • Work closely with engineering, construction, commercial, and HSE teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
