Job summary

Cental Engineering is seeking a QA/QC Mechanical Inspector to support fabrication and quality activities from its Carlow base. You will perform visual inspections, read drawings, verify welds and dimensional tolerances, and maintain QA records.

The role requires close collaboration with Production, Welding, Engineering and QA/QC teams, supported by strong IT skills. Experience with welding and reading technical drawings is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience performing visual inspections of fabricated components.
• Ability to read and understand fabrication and engineering drawings.
• Desirable experience with welding or fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

• Visual inspection of fabricated and welded components.
• Inspect completed welds against drawings and project requirements.
• Read and understand fabrication and engineering drawings.
• Carry out dimensional inspections and verify measurements, tolerances and alignment.
• Identify welding/fabrication defects and raise snags or NCRs when required.
• Verify weld and material traceability.
• Check material identification and certificates.
• Inspect steelwork, brackets, frames, supports and fabricated components.
• Complete inspection checklists and QA/QC reports.
• Maintain photographic inspection records.
• Support FOK, client and final inspections.
• Support snag and NCR close-out.
• Work closely with Production, Welding, Engineering and QA/QC teams.
• Good computer skills are essential, including Excel, Word, Outlook and working with digital drawings and inspection documentation.
