Job summary

Global Certification & Verification Group in Ireland is seeking a detail-oriented QA/QC Engineer to support a large-scale data centre project. A strong mechanical or electrical background in building services, commercial construction, industrial projects, or MEP installation is encouraged.

  • Degree or technical qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Building Services or related field.
  • Experience in construction/MEP or commercial buildings is preferred.
  • QA/QC experience welcome but engineers transitioning into QA/QC are encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Review technical documents (drawings, specs, method statements, ITPs, RAMS).
  • Prepare and maintain QA/QC docs (checklists, inspection records, NCRs, reports).
  • Verify subcontractors follow approved quality procedures.
  • Conduct daily site inspections of mechanical/electrical installations (HVAC, plumbing, fire systems, electrical).
  • Witness and sign off on MEP testing and commissioning activities.
  • Identify issues, raise NCRs, ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactiveQA/QC Engineer to support the delivery of a large-scale data centre project. While experience within data centres is beneficial, it is not required.

Candidates with a strong mechanical or electrical background in building services, commercial construction, industrial projects, or MEP installation are strongly encouraged to apply.

TheQA/QC Engineer will play a key role in ensuring all works are executed to the highest quality standards, fully compliant with project specifications, industry codes, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret technical documents including drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), and RAMS.
  • Prepare and maintain QA/QC documentation such as checklists, inspection records, NCRs, technical reports, and handover files.
  • Verify that subcontractors follow approved quality procedures.
Site Inspection and Testing
  • Conduct daily site inspections of mechanical and/or electrical installations (HVAC, plumbing, fire systems, electrical distribution, containment, etc.).
  • Ensure all works conform to project requirements and relevant standards.
  • Witness and sign off on MEP testing and commissioning activities.
  • Identify issues, raise non-conformance reports (NCRs), and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Coordination & Communication
  • Work closely with construction managers, commissioning teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure quality expectations are met.
  • Participate in quality meetings, coordination sessions, and client walkdowns.
  • Support the preparation of handover documentation including O&M manuals, redlines/as-builts, and test reports.
Continuous Improvement
  • Assist in developing and improving quality processes across the project.
  • Provide feedback and lessons learned to support ongoing project quality enhancement.
Education & Experience
  • Degree or technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience working in construction, commercial buildings, industrial plants, or MEP contracting.
  • Previous QA/QC experience preferred, but strong engineering candidates looking to transition into QA/QC are welcome.
Skills & Competencies
  • Understanding of MEP systems and construction processes.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control procedures, documentation, and inspections.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
