Job summary

Yippie AI is seeking an experienced Python Backend Developer to join our team in a hybrid role based in Dublin. You will work on production systems for a financial-services client, maintaining and expanding APIs and microservices while collaborating with client engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of Python development experience, with strong API and backend system skills, and the ability to own features from design through deployment in an enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial Python development experience.
• Production REST APIs, preferably FastAPI.
• Experience with microservices and distributed backend systems.
• AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway and/or ECS).
• Understanding of API security, authentication and authorization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain production Python APIs and microservices.
• Own changes from requirements to deployment.
• Collaborate with client engineering and business teams to align technical approaches.
• Maintain, monitor and improve existing backend services.
• Build integrations between source systems and downstream services.
• Review services to improve reliability, maintainability and performance.
• Apply security best practices, including secrets management.
• Write automated tests and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide production support.
• Contribute to engineering standards and documentation.
