Job summary

RecruitmentPlus on behalf of our client seeks an experienced Procurement / Buyer Manager (Construction) to oversee purchase, negotiation and scheduling of materials for multiple projects in Ireland. The role collaborates with Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Managers and site teams to ensure timely delivery within budgets.

Ideal candidates will have strong construction procurement experience, deep knowledge of building materials, and proven negotiation skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Construction Buyer, Purchasing Officer or similar procurement role in construction.
  • Strong knowledge of building materials and construction products.
  • Experience working with Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Managers and site teams.
  • Commercially aware, proactive and solution-focused.
  • Good understanding of quantities and material requirements.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Excellent organisational, attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Procure construction materials for residential projects in line with programme requirements.
  • Obtain and compare supplier quotations to ensure best quality and value within budgets.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and terms with suppliers.
  • Work closely with Quantity Surveyors to review project requirements, specifications, and procurement schedules.
  • Liaise with Contracts Managers and site teams to ensure materials are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders.
  • Monitor material costs and identify savings opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier pricing information.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Group procurement strategy including templates and budget variance reporting.
  • Ensure consistent application of procurement requirements across all projects and locations.

RecruitmentPlus on behalf of our client are seeking to speak with experienced Buyers/Procurement/Purchasing professionals, ideally from within the Construction or a related industry. Well established and working to the highest standards of design and delivery, they are seeking a Procurement Manager to oversee the purchase, negotiation and schedule of materials for all projects.

Requirements
  • Previous experience in a Construction Buyer, Purchasing Officer or similar procurement role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of building materials and construction products.
  • Experience working alongside Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Managers and site teams.
  • Commercially aware, proactive and solution focused.
  • Good understanding of quantities and material requirements.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Excellent organisational, attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Provision of variance reporting for the quantity surveyors and finance teams.
