  • Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to support project delivery and commercial objectives.
  • Collaborate with engineering, commercial, and project teams to define and agree technical procurement requirements.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on technical compliance, capability, commercial value, and performance.
  • Build and manage supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure delivery and quality.

Role / Requirements:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Purchaser to join our team based in Waterford. The successful candidate will report to the Procurement Manager and be responsible for managing the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract packages across M&E projects. The role focuses on contract negotiation, supplier management, and driving best-in-class procurement processes to support efficient and compliant project delivery.

This position requires a strong blend of technical engineering knowledge and commercial procurement expertise, ensuring that all procurement activities align with project specifications, contractual requirements, and operational timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead procurement activities across M&E engineering projects from project award through to completion
  • Review, negotiate, and agree contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to support project delivery and commercial objectives
  • Collaborate with engineering, commercial, and project teams to define and agree technical procurement requirements
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on technical compliance, capability, commercial value, and performance
  • Build and manage strong supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure consistent delivery and quality
  • Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment in line with project schedules
  • Identify and manage procurement and supply chain risks, implementing mitigation strategies where required
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing and refining procurement processes, systems, and controls
  • Monitor market conditions, supplier performance, and cost trends to support value-driven procurement decisions
  • Provide technical input into procurement decisions, including standardisation and product selection
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and relevant industry standards
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation, reporting, and audit trails
  • Resolve procurement, contractual, and supplier performance issues in a timely and effective manner
  • Provide regular reporting and updates to the Procurement Manager on procurement performance, risks, and opportunities

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in procurement within an M&E engineering contracting environment
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract negotiation, and commercial terms and conditions
  • Solid technical knowledge of M&E systems, materials, and equipment
  • Demonstrated experience managing supplier and subcontractor relationships
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to negotiate effectively
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
  • Experience in developing and improving procurement processes and systems
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to identify, assess, and manage procurement and supply chain risks
