The Department of Health Tasmania seeks a Career Medical Officer (CMO) – Psychiatry Day Work – Mental Health Emergency Department to provide psychiatric assessment, management and clinical care for consumers presenting with acute mental health concerns at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The role offers professional autonomy with access to specialist consultant support, inpatient care in psychiatric units, and involvement in discharge planning and documentation in the hospital setting.

Qualifications

• General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable)

Responsabilités

• Provide medical care to patients in inpatient mental health units, including the Short Stay Unit.
• Attend to mental health patients located throughout the hospital who require specialist medical input.
• Liaise closely with consultant psychiatrists regarding patient assessment and management.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation (admissions, progress notes, decisions, discharge summaries).
• Promote collaborative working relationships with the multidisciplinary team involved in patient care.
• Respond promptly to clinical calls from nursing and clinical staff.
• Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice and ensure accurate prescribing, administration, and documentation of medications.
