Job description

Project Manager - 12 Month Maternity Cover (2026-46)

Job Role: The Life Science Division is one of IDA’s strongest performing operational divisions. The Biopharma and Food Department is a team of 5 managers and 5 executives who are responsible for a developing a portfolio of 90 existing clients with over 160 sites and over 50,000 employees as well as winning new name investments for the department. In IDA’s current strategy the Biopharma and Food department is targeted to deliver 150 projects and 11,000 job approvals. The filling of this position will be crucial to the successful delivery of the new IDA strategy. This role will involve managing a portfolio of East Coast US companies including 4 strategic clients and 2 strong clients with multiple sites. These clients include Regeneron, J&J Innovative Medicine, BMS and Pepsi.

To maintain and develop effective relationships with key existing clients across a number of key functions within those clients and to fully understand the depth and breadth of their operations in Ireland.

To be always informed regarding developments in domestic and international (especially EU) policy that have an impact on East Coast clients. This includes considering investment opportunities that arise from these developments as well potential threats. The ability to liaise as necessary with Policy and Planning Division as well as DETE is essential in this regard.

To contribute to the ongoing implementation of the Biopharma Strategy and to continually build and refine targeting plans with East Coast USA colleagues to deliver on New Name targets.

To capture and develop an in-depth knowledge of the underlying trends and business dynamics of the Biopharma sector and to ensure that this knowledge is shared and used to support the growth of the business.

To support East Coast overseas colleagues and transfer technical and operational knowledge through in-country marketing programs.

To research, prepare and present investment proposals to the IDA Board, Committees and Government.

To represent Ireland and IDA in the broader ecosystem and at events both in Ireland and overseas.

To use the Client Development Process (CDP) to shape engagement strategies with key existing & target clients.

To lead the development of modified value propositions or products for the main sectors and activities relevant to Biopharma.

To drive, motivate and develop a team of executives in the achievement of Divisional targets and to ensure that continuous learning and development is undertaken by the team through informal and formal learning and to ensure effective participation in the Performance Management and Development Review Process.

To contribute to the development of the Division as part its management team.

Additional Requirements:
  • A relevant Level 8 third level business/sector related degree recognised on the National Qualification Framework is essential.
  • A full current driving licence is essential.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to meet tight deadlines and to work flexibly and independently on own initiative.
  • Ability and flexibility to undertake International and domestic travel.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours when required.
  • Ongoing flexibility and interest in career progression and development via opportunities, which may arise in IDA’s offices throughout Ireland and Overseas.
Salary Scale:

€83,113 to €102,076 per annum contributory superannuation.

Rising by long service increments to €105,211 (after 3 years satisfactory service at the maximum of the range) and to and to €108,355 (after 6 years satisfactory service at the maximum of the range)
