Job summary

John Sisk & Son Ltd in Tralee is seeking a Project Manager to lead Life Science construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. You will manage works packages including Structural steel, External envelope and internal fitout, coordinating across engineering, commercial, design and construction teams.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will ensure delivery on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining safety, compliance and strong client

Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management within a Tier 1 construction or engineering environment.
  • Relevant health and safety certification (e.g. Safe Pass, CSCS, SMSTS or equivalent)
  • Experience delivering projects in life sciences, data centres, infrastructure or commercial construction.
  • Training in lean construction, digital project delivery or sustainability practices.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage and deliver projects in line with agreed programme, budget and specifications
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, commercial, design and construction function
  • Monitor progress, manage risks and implement corrective actions where required
  • Ensure resources are effectively allocated and project milestones are achieved
  • Maintain accurate reporting on progress, costs, quality and performance indicators
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, variations and project cash flow
  • Work closely with the commercial team to ensure accurate reporting and contract administration
  • Ensure procurement processes are followed and subcontractor performance is managed effectively
  • Support tendering and bid processes where required
  • Lead project teams, fostering collaboration, accountability and professional development

Overview

We are seeking a project manager to join our Life Science team in Tralee.

The role of the project manager will include managing works packages - Structural steel, External envelope & internal fitout

reporting to the Project Director, the Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. The role ensures that work is carried out safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. The Project Manager provides leadership to project teams, manages client and stakeholder relationships, and ensures compliance with all contractual, regulatory and company requirements.

Responsibilities
Project Delivery
  • Plan, manage and deliver projects in line with agreed programme, budget and specifications
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, commercial, design and construction function
  • Monitor progress, manage risks and implement corrective actions where required
  • Ensure resources are effectively allocated and project milestones are achieved

Quality, Safety and Compliance
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental performance across all activities
  • Ensure all works comply with design, specifications and statutory regulations
  • Implement and monitor project-specific quality plans, method statements and inspection regimes
  • Support audits, inspections and reviews to maintain compliance and continuous improvement
Commercial and Contract Management
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, variations and project cash flow
  • Work closely with the commercial team to ensure accurate reporting and contract administration
  • Ensure procurement processes are followed and subcontractor performance is managed effectively
  • Support tendering and bid processes where required
Leadership and Communication
  • Lead project teams, fostering collaboration, accountability and professional development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
  • Chair progress and coordination meetings, ensuring clear communication of objectives and outcomes
  • Act as the key point of contact for project-related queries, decisions and escalations
Essential
Experience
  • Proven experience managing large-scale Lonstruction projects from inception to completion , Pharma experience an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of the EHS regs
  • Commercial awareness helpful
  • BCAR coordination
  • ITR/ITP coordination
  • Document management system awareness
Desirable
  • Experience delivering projects in sectors such as life sciences, data centres, infrastructure or commercial construction
  • Understanding of digital project delivery tools including BIM and project management software
  • Commercial awareness including contract law and cost management principles
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives and promote innovation
Essential
Qualifications

  • Professional membership or working towards membership of a recognised body (e.g. CIOB, Engineers Ireland, RICS, ICE)
  • Postgraduate qualification in project management or business management
  • Training in lean construction, digital project delivery or sustainability practices
