Job summary

Sisk Group in Ireland is seeking an Assistant Contracts Manager to support the Contracts Manager in delivering construction projects. You will act as deputy project lead, help manage HSEQS, risk, and project teams, and ensure the Project Execution Plan is followed.

The role offers a pathway to leadership within a family-owned, international construction group with a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Construction or Engineering
  • IOSH or health and safety training
  • Temporary works and excavation safety training
  • Permitting live energy works knowledge
  • Height safety and scaffolding awareness
  • Lifting and cranage operations training
  • Other site HSEQS training as required
  • BIM fundamentals
  • Desirable: CIOB/CPEng/MICE chartership
  • Diploma in Building and Construction

Responsibilities

  • Manage reporting and package management
  • Support Contracts/Project Manager in delivering design and construction projects
  • Lead by example with professional conduct and leadership
  • Help drive HSE management and Zero Injuries commitment
  • Ensure compliance with company protocols and procedures
  • Assist in risk management and coordination with client expectations
  • Contribute to Project Execution Plans and delivery
  • Maintain standards for Zero Defects and Zero Snags
  • Build relationships with clients, consultants and suppliers
  • Represent Sisk with clear communication on and off site
  • Support HSE plan implementation and RAMS
  • Ensure safe systems of work onsite and coordinate activities
  • Monitor progress against PEP and take corrective action
  • Assist in procurement and briefing trade contractors

Education

Degree or equivalent qualification (Construction or Engineering)
IOSH or equivalent health and safety training
Temporary works and excavation safety training
Permitting requirements for live energy works
Working at heights and scaffolding awareness
Training in lifting and cranage operations
Other HSEQS training as required by site HSE plan
BIM fundamentals
Desirable: Chartership with CIOB/CPEng/MICE

The Assistant Contracts Manager supports the Contracts Manager in the successful delivery of construction projects. Responsibilities include acting as deputy project lead, supporting health, safety, environment, quality and sustainability (HSEQS) management, assisting in risk management, monitoring progress against the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and supporting the management of project teams.


Responsibilities


  • Manage reporting systems, team meetings and package management

  • Support the Contracts or Project Manager in delivering design and construction projects

  • Act as a role model for staff and operatives through professional conduct and leadership

  • Take an active role in HSE management, challenging site practices to drive improvement in line with the Zero Injury Commitment

  • Promote discipline in line with company protocols, practices and procedures

  • Assist in managing project delivery teams, focusing on risk management and consistency with client and company expectations

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of robust Project Execution Plans

  • Communicate and enforce the company commitment to Zero Defects and Zero Snags

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants and suppliers

  • Represent Sisk internally and externally with clear and accurate communication

  • Support implementation of the HSE plan on site, maintaining standards through team engagement

  • Draft, review and approve risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) with the Contracts or Project Manager

  • Ensure safe systems of work are in place and activities are coordinated onsite

  • Monitor performance and progress against the Project Execution Plan and take corrective action when required

  • Drive the HSEQS plan onsite, including implementation of the Quality Program

  • Plan the close out of works, allocating resources in line with the handover strategy and contract programme

  • Ensure inspection test plans (ITPs) are implemented and hold points identified by package owners

  • Communicate standards to the project team and raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) when work does not meet requirements

  • Support procurement processes, ensuring trade contractors are briefed and understand project requirements


Experience

Essential



  • Proven experience in operational, planning or engineering roles

  • Proven construction experience across a variety of contracts or sectors


Desirable



  • Understanding of safety considerations in project planning and design, with a focus on risk reduction

  • Knowledge of the supply chain and established relationships with subcontractors

  • Understanding of material performance with focus on Zero Defects

  • Ability to measure productivity and recommend improvements

  • Ability to identify alternative methods to improve safety, quality and productivity

  • Competence in preparing RAMS for site operations and ensuring compliance

  • Effective communicator with consultants, project teams and the supply chain

  • Efficient work practices with a focus on waste reduction

  • Experience in implementing company standards and procedures


Qualifications
