Job summary

Stryker Group is seeking a Project Manager, R&D for its Cork location to lead New Product Development projects from Charter through launch. You will coordinate cross‑functional teams, primarily engineering and manufacturing, to meet customer needs and business outcomes within the NPD process.

The role requires a degree in engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience in medical devices or pharma, with preference for NPD and manufacturing exposure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or equivalent required.
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience required (Medical device/Pharma etc).
  • New product development experience (Preferred).
  • Manufacturing experience (Desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team in developing the project charter and management plan, directing, managing, and evaluating project tradeoffs to support successful execution.
  • Engage with project stakeholders to define and refine project scope, secure managerial approval, and develop a detailed Work Breakdown Structure.
  • Develop and maintain the project Gantt chart, analyzing critical paths and major workstreams to keep progress on schedule.
  • Collaborate with your supervisor and/or project PM to establish and oversee the project budget, ensuring costs remain within target.
  • Partner with the project team to develop and monitor project Quality Plans, applying key quality planning tools and techniques.
  • Establish a risk management plan that identifies, analyzes, and mitigates project risks through a structured risk response strategy.
  • Contribute to the Procurement Management Plan and support the selection of procurement partners aligned with project requirements.
  • Estimate, acquire, and allocate project team resources, defining roles, responsibilities, and deliverables while providing performance feedback.
  • Establish and execute a communications management plan to facilitate effective communication across the project team and with key stakeholders.
  • Build strong working relationships across departments, demonstrating a solid understanding of quality systems.
  • Demonstrate high emotional intelligence, remaining composed under pressure and effectively navigating conflict resolution.
  • Drive results in support of business goals, particularly under tight timelines, while taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Influence and engage others without direct authority, fostering a collaborative, motivated, and high‑performing team environment.
  • Incorporate end‑user feedback to refine project scope and communicate changes, updates, and decisions clearly to stakeholders.
  • Understand and articulate how project goals align with broader organizational objectives, using this perspective to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Keep the customer at the center of all decisions and actions.
  • Apply sound judgment by weighing benefits and risks to make well‑informed decisions, even in situations of ambiguity.

Location: Stryker R&D Innovation Centre, Cork

As a Project Manager in Orthotech you will be directly responsible for the success of a New Product Development Project, taking it from Charter through launch. You work with innovative technology to drive customer and business expectations through our NPD process, ensuring our product meets customer needs and business outcomes. You are responsible for aligning your team and delivering results throughout the project, not only in aligning expected tasks throughout the project, but setting the scope of the project, high level project plan, aligning with the greater business, and driving project success. You will work with and lead a cross‑functional group, primarily engineering and manufacturing, and be at the forefront of medical device manufacturing.

What You Will Do

Ireland Pay Ranges:
  • Ireland: €57,000 - €94,000 EUR Annual
  • Compensation information posted for this role may be presented as a salary range or a fixed amount depending on the role.
  • In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for incentive compensation (such as bonus and/or commissions where applicable), along with Stryker’s comprehensive benefits package.
