AVENTA is supporting a major Irish energy utility on a Programme to redesign how grid connections are delivered. The Project Management Support role sits at the heart of this improvement, coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring governance and outcomes for large demand customers.
The role requires structured project discipline, strong communication, and a commitment to customer-centric service improvement within a regulated infrastructure context in Ireland.
Our client is a major Irish energy utility operating one of Ireland's most critical electricity distribution networks — connecting homes, businesses, and industrial customers across the country to the national grid. As Ireland's energy landscape undergoes rapid transformation — driven by accelerating renewable energy penetration, the electrification of transport and heating, and a surge in large-scale demand from data centres, pharmaceutical facilities, and industrial customers — the pressure on the distribution network and on the processes that govern access to it has never been greater.
The Regulation & Commercial team is responsible for managing the commercial and regulatory aspects of grid connections — including the processes by which large demand customers (data centres, industrial facilities, large commercial developments) apply for, negotiate, and receive new or increased connections to the distribution system. These processes are complex, multi-party, and have historically been a source of friction for customers — leading to this dedicated project to redesign and improve them.
The Project Management Support role sits at the heart of this improvement programme. It is a cross-functional, customer-facing project coordination role — responsible for mobilising the project, maintaining governance and oversight, translating customer insights into structured improvement actions, and ensuring that the project delivers its intended benefits to large demand customers and to the business. The role requires a combination of structured project management discipline, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to customer-centric service improvement.
Support the delivery of the customer project scope, objectives, and key deliverables
Contributing to the definition and maintenance of the overall project delivery plan, and ensuring that workstreams remain aligned with project objectives and timelines
Support the mobilisation of the project at inception
Establishing the project framework, onboarding team members, setting up governance tools and communication channels, and ensuring the project is ready to deliver from day one
Translate identified customer pain points and improvement opportunities into a structured, prioritised action plan
Converting qualitative customer feedback and process analysis findings into concrete project tasks with clear owners, timelines, and success criteria
Track expected benefits and customer outcomes throughout the project lifecycle
Monitoring leading indicators such as reduced customer effort, improved communication quality, faster response times, and improved customer satisfaction scores, and reporting on benefit realisation against plan
Set up and maintain an appropriate project governance structure including regular project team meetings, management decision forums, steering group reporting, and defined escalation routes for issues and decisions that cannot be resolved at working team level
Produce concise, accurate status reports on a regular basis
Covering project progress against plan, key decisions taken, risks and issues, dependencies, and areas requiring management attention. Reports must be clear enough for senior stakeholders who are not embedded in the day-to-day project to act on them.
Maintain a comprehensive RAID log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies)
proactively identifying emerging risks and cross-team dependencies, flagging them to the relevant owners, and tracking mitigation actions through to resolution
Document team meetings and external customer meetings
capturing decisions, actions, and owners accurately and distributing meeting notes in a timely manner to maintain shared understanding and accountability across the project team
Coordinate and facilitate cross-team workshops
Bringing together internal stakeholders from Networks, Regulation, Commercial, IT, and customer-facing teams to drive alignment, resolve dependencies, and advance specific project workstreams. The ability to structure and facilitate productive working sessions is central to this role.
Manage interfaces with external large demand customers as part of the project
Documenting customer feedback, coordinating external meetings, and ensuring that the customer's perspective remains central to the process redesign effort
Proactively identify and manage cross-team dependencies
Maintaining visibility of interdependencies between workstreams and flagging where one team's delay or decision is blocking another, supporting timely resolution and escalation where required
