Job summary

Electric Skyline Limited in Cork seeks a Project Manager to oversee maintenance faults across the Cork/Kerry region from initiation to completion. You will drive projects to meet contractual terms, manage budgets, deadlines and quality standards, while leading a team and promoting the company’s vision.

The role reports to Contracts Manager and requires ensuring adherence to safety, environment and regulatory requirements across Local Authority projects.

Qualifications

  • A Level 8 degree in Electrical, Project Management or Civils.
  • Experience leading electrical/public lighting projects is advantageous.
  • Strong planning, risk and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Initiation: plan surveys, define scope and coordinate resources to close faults on time.
  • Health, Safety, Environment and Quality: enforce HSE policies, training, incident reporting and root-cause analysis.
  • Budget, Resource and Schedule Management: monitor costs, manage resources and maintain project dashboards.
  • People Management: lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management and development.
  • Documentation and Reporting: keep PM systems up to date and present KPI updates.
  • Project Closure: ensure deliverables are completed, handed over and lessons learned are captured.

Job Summary: Project Manager

The Project Manager will oversee all maintenance faults across the Cork/Kerry region from initiation through to completion. This role is critical in ensuring that all maintenance works are delivered promptly, in full compliance with contractual terms and conditions for each Local Authority, and within agreed scope and budget.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Project Manager will play a key leadership role in driving operational excellence within the maintenance division, including the management and development of team members. A core aspect of the position is to champion and promote the company’s vision, mission, and values in all aspects of operations.

The successful candidate will be accountable for monitoring and managing key performance indicators (such as ticket status, fault percentages, open days, and productivity), conducting site visits with Local Authority representatives, and overseeing Taken In Charge (TIC) projects within the region.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Initiation

  • Communicate with the Client to arrange and complete any Pre-Construction Site Surveys to agree the Scope of Works and assess any possible issues such as access constraints, overhead power lines etc.
  • Complete a weekly schedule and coordinate resources to close out faults in the time required.
  • Ensure the maintenance works adheres to relevant laws, regulations, environment health, safety and industry standards.
  • Identify potential risks (schedule, resources, budget and timeline) and put plans in place to mitigate against them.
  • Monitor and control maintenance risks throughout the life cycle of the works and communicate with the client and management team accordingly.

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.

  • Ensure that Health and Safety policies and procedures are to the fore of the work being carried out.
  • Ensure employees are competent in their position and attend EHS training as identified
  • Ensure any accidents, injuries or near misses are reported and investigated and root cause identified.
  • Support employees during their absence from work due to illness or injury and support their return to work.
  • Complete Health, safety and quality audit KPI’s in place.

Budget, Resource and Schedule Management

  • Monitor maintenance costs, ensuring the works stay within the allocated budget and identify cost saving opportunities without sacrificing quality and health and safety.
  • Approve expenditures and adjust when necessary.
  • Recognise changes from original scope and communicate to client and project QS.
  • Continuously monitor and review the pipeline of work and ensure adequate resources are available to meet targets, modify schedules in response to changes or unforeseen delays.
  • Maintain the dashboard; ensuring project status comments (e.g. next bill month, bill value) are accurate and maintained ensuring jobs are moved to closure and completed.
  • Attend weekly meetings and provide updates as necessary with Contracts Manager.

People Management

  • Manage a high performing team through the employee lifecycle (Recruitment, Onboarding, Performance Management, Learning and Development, Offboarding) ensuring all goals and objectives are met.
  • Payroll, ensure employees hours are reviewed and signed off in line with company policy and the Working Time Act.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Ensure all Project Management systems (e.g. proworks and dashboard) are up to date with various jobs and updates.
  • Present monthly defined KPI’s to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Present at the company communications meetings.

Project Closure

  • Ensure that all maintenance deliverables are completed, approved, and handed over to the client or relevant parties.
  • Ensure that the final measure is agreed with the client and communicated through to the QS for the final count.
  • Focus on continuous improvement, review maintenance outcomes, lessons learned and assess the success of the works.
  • Officially close and claim maintenance tickets on deadsure in the required timeframe.
  • Assist with the compilation of the Electrical Test Certificates and NC4 applications.

Performance / Professional Development

  • Drive your personal performance, ensuring you are meeting and exceeding your goals and objectives set at each performance review (SMART Goals, KPI’s etc)
  • Define your personal development including CPD and succession planning.

Person Specification

Education requirements:

Level 8 Degree in Electrical / Project Management or Civils.

PMP, PSCS, and electrical certifications highly desirable.

Level 6 Craft Electrical Certificate is required.

Experience:

5+ years experience in managing electrical projects. Experience in RECI Testing & Verification. Previous experience in Public lighting / Utilities / Road Opening Licenses / Civils Works is desirable.
