Job purpose: The Project Associate for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) plays a crucial role in the effective implementation of IOM Ireland's MHPSS project. This position provides essential programmatic, financial, and administrative support under the direct supervision of the National MHPSS Officer. The role is accountable for managing day-to-day tasks, ensuring efficient operations, and contributing to the overall objective of improving the psychosocial well-being and resilience of international protection seekers. By ensuring smooth administrative processes and supporting project coordination, the associate directly contributes to the successful delivery of vital support services.
Responsibilities: The Project Associate will assist the supervisor in managing administrative, financial, and HR activities for the MHPSS project. This includes supporting program coordination, maintaining activity tracking tools, and providing guidance to Programme Assistants. The role involves processing staff expense and travel claims, assisting with procurement in accordance with IOM procedures, and monitoring project expenditures against budgets. Responsibilities also include maintaining organized project documentation, compiling data for donor reporting, and coordinating administrative support for meetings and events. The associate will attend meetings, prepare minutes, and ensure follow-up actions are taken, performing other relevant duties as assigned.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Political/Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law) with three years of experience is required. Alternatively, a High School diploma with five years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Accredited universities are recognized via the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Work experience: Required experience includes proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality. Experience with EU/international funding instruments, financial management, reporting, accounting, and budgeting is essential. Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills with attention to detail are also necessary. Previous work in international organizations is advantageous.
