Job summary

Life Science Recruitment is seeking an experienced Program Manager for medical device development in Galway. You will lead complex, multi-phase programmes from concept to market, collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance and Business Development to deliver innovative solutions.

You will act as the primary customer contact and drive on-time delivery while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate experience in medical device design/development or another regulated industry.
• At least 3 years’ experience in Program or Project Management, or equivalent.
• PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
• Strong knowledge of project planning, budgeting, resource management, risk management and stakeholder management.

• Lead multi-phase New Product Development, Manufacturing Transfer, Continuous Improvement and Semi-Automation projects.
• Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, resources, schedules and deliverables.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects and ensure on-time delivery.

• Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and escalation pathways.
• Facilitate Phase Gate Reviews and project close-out activities.

Program Manager – Medical Device Development

Lead the delivery of innovative medical device programmes

Are you an experienced Program or Project Manager with a background in medical devices or another highly regulated industry?

We’re looking for an ambitious, commercially minded Program Manager to join our PMO in Galway and take the lead on complex, multi-phase product development programmes — from initial concept through to market introduction and manufacturing transfer.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of cross-functional teams, partnering with customers and colleagues across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance and Business Development to deliver innovative medical device solutions.

The Role:

As Program Manager, you’ll be the primary point of contact for customers on project-related matters and will take ownership of delivering programmes on time, within scope and against agreed financial targets.

You’ll manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity, coordinating teams, resources, budgets, schedules, risks and deliverables while ensuring compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading multi-phase New Product Development, Manufacturing Transfer, Continuous Improvement and Semi-Automation projects.

Looking For:

Someone who combines strong project leadership with excellent technical, commercial and interpersonal skills.

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is desirable.
• At least 5 years’ post-graduate experience in medical device product design/development or another regulated industry.
• At least 3 years’ experience in Program or Project Management, or equivalent experience.
• PMP® certification or equivalent project management training.
• Strong knowledge of project planning, budgeting, resource management, risk management and stakeholder management.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a matrix organisation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in situations involving ambiguity or technical uncertainty.

Desirable Experience

Experience in the following areas would be particularly valuable:

• Catheters
• Delivery systems
• Dilators
• Braided shafts
• Medical device product development
