Job summary

Meissner is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor for the Evening Shift to join our Castlebar-based manufacturing team, reporting to the Production Manager. You will coordinate cleanroom production operations, develop staff, and ensure adherence to Health & Safety, Quality and GMP standards.

As a hands-on leader, you will schedule work, manage priorities, monitor KPIs, and drive continuous improvement, working closely with Planning, Maintenance and Quality to deliver on production

Qualifications

  • Level 7 qualification in Business, Management, production, Engineering or related discipline would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Supervisory position leading a production team within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record in people management and demonstrated ability in leading, coaching, motivating and organizing a team.
  • Ability to solve problems as they arise and naturally strive for continuous improvement.
  • Strong communicator with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to produce the highest quality product and GMP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the person in charge during the evening shift, overseeing all production operations and facility management.
  • Coordinate, training, coaching and evaluation of production operatives and team leaders.
  • Complete the production plan by scheduling work orders and priorities, monitoring progress.
  • Develop the production team to support future business growth and maintain training records.
  • Recruiting, onboarding, performance evaluation and employee development in line with policies.
  • Work with Planning to understand weekly priorities and ensure KPIs are met.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Quality, Line Clearance and GMP.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives with cross‑functional teams to reduce waste.
  • Identify operational issues, perform root cause analysis and implement solutions.
  • Utilise production systems to manage orders, lot control and inventory tracking.
  • Coordinate minor routine cleaning and maintenance on equipment.
  • Update metrics, time and attendance and holiday planning.

Due to continued growth, Meissner are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor for Evening Shift to join a rapidly expanding manufacturing team.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor’s main role will be to coordinate cleanroom based production operations at our manufacturing facility in Castlebar. They will be responsible for the coordinating, training, coaching and the development of staff as well as executing the production plan, ensuring standards in relation to Health & Safety, Quality and GMP are adhered to.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Act as the person in charge during the evening shift, overseeing all production operations and facility management, with full authority to make operational decisions and elevate critical issues to the Production Manager.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, training, coaching and evaluation of production operatives and team leaders to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills.
  • Completing the production plan by scheduling work orders, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, escalating and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Develop the production team to support future business growth, including training needs analysis, succession planning, and maintenance of accurate training records to ensure workforce flexibility.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including recruiting, onboarding, performance evaluation, employee development, recognition, disciplinary action and grievance resolution
  • Work closely with Planning to understand weekly priorities, proactively identify risks to delivery, and ensure production targets and KPIs are consistently met.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety, Quality, Line Clearance and GMP and guarantee that all products meet customer requirements
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate cross – functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance and Supply Chain groups in order to reduce areas of waste within production.
  • Proactively identify operational issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement practical, sustainable solutions to drive continuous improvement and prevent recurrence.
  • Utilise production systems and software to manage production orders, lot control and inventory tracking.
  • Coordinate minor routine cleaning & maintenance on production equipment within production schedules.
  • Perform administration duties which include; updating metrics, time and attendance system and holiday planning.

The Production Supervisor is a management position at Meissner. Excellent organization, communication and management skills are required to effectively fill this role.

  • Ability to read documents and interpret drawings, specfications, safety rules and operating instructions.
Physical Demands

SUPS production is performed in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment. Powder free gloves, face masks, hairnets, cleanroom suits (“bunny suits”) and shoe covers must be worn. Shorts, loose or baggy clothing is not permitted. Makeup, hair styling products, soiled, fuzzy or frayed clothing must not be worn into the cleanroom. Because smokers continue to shed thousands of smoke particles even hours after smoking a cigarette and these particles will damage our products, only nonsmokers are permitted to enter or work in the cleanroom. As a result, the successful candidate must be a nonsmoker.
