Hybrid/Remote: Very flexible hybrid, likely 1-2 days on-site per month
Our client, a well-known media production company, is seeking an experienced finance candidate to take ownership of the financial management of animation productions, covering budgeting, cost control, reporting and regulatory compliance. Working closely with the Finance Manager, founders, producers and external stakeholders, you will help ensure projects stay on budget and meet funding requirements, including Irish tax incentives.
You will report to the Finance Manager and work within a very flexible hybrid model, so the ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and communicate clearly with stakeholders across the business is essential.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and monitor production budgets across a portfolio of animation projects
- Compare actual spend against budget, flag over/underspend risks, and produce monthly cost reports and forecasts
- Manage cash flow, payment schedules and payroll for cast and crew
- Prepare financial reports for Producers and external financiers
- Take full end-to-end responsibility for the DAC’s accounting function, maintaining accurate financial records from initial transaction processing through to trial balance, with sole ownership of all accounting outputs
- Liaise with Heads of Department to ensure financial accuracy and secure appropriate approvals
- Manage Section 481 tax credit applications and maintain ongoing compliance
- Prepare final cost reports and oversee the audit process at project close
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with Irish regulatory requirements
- Run full payroll processing, ensuring compliance with all relevant Irish regulations and deadlines
- Support the accounting needs of the parent company and wider group, working confidently across multiple entities and contributing to group accounts, including intercompany reconciliations and consolidated reporting as needed
Requirements
- Qualified, part-qualified or QBE accountant
- Proven background in accounting, prior production accounting experience would be beneficial, but not required
- Demonstrated ability to manage full end-to-end accounts independently with minimal supervision
- Sound working knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting and cash flow management
- Experience preparing VAT returns and managing payroll within an Irish regulatory environment
- Confident working across multiple entities and contributing to group accounts and intercompany processes
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing priorities
- Proactive and solutions-oriented, able to spot and resolve issues independently
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable liaising with both finance and non-finance colleagues
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with production accounting software is an advantage
