Job summary

Boston Scientific in Clonmel is seeking a Process Technician II to maintain and improve manufacturing equipment performance. The role covers preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance with independent fault diagnosis across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems.

You will document activities, support GMP compliance, and contribute to continuous improvement while collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior technicians.

Qualifications

  • NFQ level 6 STEM higher certificate/Trade Qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or related discipline.
  • 2–5 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • SMT experience is a requirement.
  • Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.
  • Understanding of GMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in medical device/pharma or regulated manufacturing industries preferred.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment to support safe and reliable production operations.
  • Independently diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system faults.
  • Complete maintenance activities and documentation in accordance with site procedures, GMP requirements, and engineering standards.
  • Accurately maintain maintenance records and work orders within the CMMS to support regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence of equipment failures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and operational performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all safety procedures, identify hazards, and actively contribute to a strong safety culture.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Facilities and external suppliers to resolve technical issues and support business objectives.
  • Share technical knowledge, assist with onboarding and training activities, and support team capability development.

We are seeking a Process Technician S2 on a Permanent basis to join our team in our Clonmel site.

The shift for this position is rotation Days/Evenings shift changing to rotation Night/Days shift come Jan 2027.

Job Purpose

The Process Technician II is responsible for maintaining and improving manufacturing equipment performance through the execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. The role requires independent troubleshooting of equipment issues, adherence to safety and quality standards, accurate maintenance documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure equipment reliability and production continuity. Technicians are expected to work with minimal supervision, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and support the development of less experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities

Education & Experience
  • NFQ level 6 STEM higher certificate/Trade Qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
  • 2 to 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • SMT experience is a requirement
  • Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems
  • Understanding of GMP and regulatory requirements
  • Experience within either Medical Device, trade related fields, Pharmaceutical, Electronics, or other regulated manufacturing industries is preferred but not essential
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Understanding of equipment reliability and preventive maintenance principles
  • Technical troubleshooting and maintenance expertise
