Job summary

Collins McNicholas Group in Galway is recruiting for a Production Technician to join a leading medical device manufacturing organisation. You will support production equipment, troubleshoot issues and contribute to continuous improvement in a fast-paced, highly automated cleanroom environment.

Working with a multidisciplinary team, you will perform equipment qualifications, collaborate with manufacturing engineers, maintain spares, and support new production methods.

Qualifications

• HETAC Level 6 qualification in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in a similar role.
• Experience in medical device manufacturing is highly desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are required.
• Knowledge of PLC programming and electronic systems is advantageous.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities with independent work capability.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment, yield and process-related issues.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to improve methods and procedures.
• Carry out electronic troubleshooting, PLC programming and hardware interfacing.
• Maintain critical spare parts to minimise downtime.
• Support new production methods and equipment design/improvements.
• Document technical work, qualifications and validations.
• Perform equipment qualifications and validations, including report writing.
• Design, manufacture and test production equipment and improvements.
• Engage with internal teams and external vendors as needed.
• Take responsibility for preventative maintenance within an assigned area.
• Support quality, health & safety and continuous improvement culture.

We are currently recruiting for a Production Technician to join a leading medical device manufacturing organisation in Galway.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, highly automated cleanroom environment, supporting production processes, equipment and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Role

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support the smooth and efficient operation of production equipment while helping to troubleshoot issues and improve manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Troubleshoot equipment, yield and process-related issues.
• Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers to develop and improve production methods and procedures.
• Carry out electronic troubleshooting, PLC programming and hardware interfacing.
• Maintain critical spare parts to minimise equipment downtime.
• Support the introduction and implementation of new production methods.
• Assist with equipment design, part sourcing and technical documentation.
• Perform equipment qualifications and validations, including report writing.
• Design, manufacture, test and document production equipment and improvements.
• Liaise with internal teams and external vendors when required.
• Take responsibility for preventative maintenance within an assigned area.
• Support a strong culture of quality, health & safety and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

• HETAC Level 6 qualification in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2 years' relevant experience.
• Experience in medical device manufacturing is highly desirable.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of PLC programming and electronic systems would be an advantage.
