Job summary

European Tech Recruit is seeking an experienced Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer for a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Cork, Ireland. You will provide specialist Process Safety and EHS support focused on risk assessment, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, ATEX, PSSR and SEVESO III compliance across the site.

You will work with Engineering, Operations and EHS teams to manage process safety changes, investigations and training, while driving continuous improvements to the site’s PSM system and

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified engineer or equivalent EHS discipline.
• Experience implementing Process Safety Management in manufacturing.
• Practical HAZOP and process safety risk assessment experience.
• Knowledge of SIL/LOPA, ATEX, PSSR and SEVESO/COMAH desirable.
• Experience in pharma/chemical/API or regulated industries preferred.
• Strong communication across Engineering, Operations and EHS.

Responsibilities

• Support HAZOPs for equipment and capital projects and revalidation programs.
• Conduct/process safety risk assessments including SIL and LOPA.
• Assess changes from a process safety perspective via Change Control/MOC.
• Support PSSR for new and modified equipment/processes.
• Maintain SEVESO III compliance and process safety metrics.
• Develop and improve the site's Process Safety Management system.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot process safety issues.
• Support incident investigations and RCA.
• Develop and deliver process safety training.
• Assist EHS audits, risk assessments, JSA and Permit-to-Work.
• Report PSM metrics and trends to site management.

Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer – Cork

I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer to join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation in Cork.

This position will provide specialist Process Safety and EHS support across the site, with a particular focus on process safety risk assessment, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, ATEX, PSSR and SEVESO III compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and facilitate HAZOPs for equipment and capital projects, including the site HAZOP revalidation programme
• Conduct/support process safety risk assessments including SIL, LOPA and ATEX
• Assess engineering changes and projects from a process safety perspective through Change Control / MOC
• Support Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR) for new and modified equipment/processes
• Support and maintain compliance with SEVESO III requirements
• Develop and continuously improve the site's Process Safety Management system
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for process safety issues
• Support process-safety incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
• Develop and deliver process safety training
• Support EHS audits, risk assessments, JSA and Permit-to-Work activities
• Generate and report PSM metrics and trends to site management

What We’re Looking For:

• Degree-qualified Engineer or relevant technical/EHS discipline
• Previous experience in Process Safety Management within a manufacturing/process environment
• Practical experience with HAZOP and process safety risk assessment
• Knowledge of SIL/LOPA, ATEX, PSSR and SEVESO/COMAH highly desirable
• Experience within pharmaceutical, chemical, API, oil & gas or another highly regulated process industry would be particularly relevant
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across Engineering, Operations and EHS teams
